Yep, some bitter Opel fans argue that the switch to fwd was one of the first nails in the coffin. The only model of interest of the Ascona C is the convertible by Hammond & Thiede which was assembled in my hometown.
(Edit: the one in that pic is a Keinath convertible but they all looked the same anyways)

Bitter Opel fans sounds quite funny, they could be 2 things, fans of Bitter Opels, or just bitter fans of Opel, or maybe both at the same time, haha.
Hardly any difference indeed. Also, I love how 80s (or at least what I think the 80s were, how would I know how the 80s were) that photo is: completely cocaine white car, mustache, girl leaning on the hood in a bit of an odd pose.
